When my daughter phones me

To tell me all the her news.

We enjoy our lively chat

And a frank exchange of views

And always in the background

I can hear the charming noise

Of my little Jessica

Playing with her toys.

Then suddenly little Jess

Climbs on her mummy's knee

And her long suffering mummy

Puts her on the phone to me.

When I hear Jess chuckle

And shout "Nanna" out loud

I get a rush of feeling

That makes me very proud.

Her tinkling laugh,

That wonderful sound

And I could leap tall buildings

At a single bound.

Then comes the giggles

That always affect us

Then Jess pushes some buttons

And promptly disconnects us.
