 Uncle Hemsley

had no time

for life's rat race

nor social climb.

Uncle Hemsley

spent his hours

in his garden

with his flowers.

No need of fortune

nor ivory towers

because he loved

tending his flowers.

Uncle Hemsley

once told me,"Lass,

life goes by

so very fast.

Live each day

as though your last."

Then,on Uncle's

final day

the kind old priest

was heard to say,

"Live like Hemsley

if you can,

he was such

a happy man."
