where has she gone?

navel gazing

Where has she gone-

the irrepressible one?

Where could she be-

the invincible me?

Where is the girl

who would volunteer?

That crazy girl

who knew no fear?

That girl who had a poet's heart?

The girl who always looked so smart?

The one who marched

for what was right

Who kept the vigil

through the night.

How can I find

that girl who was kind?

Where can I look

and find the key

to unlock the girl

who used to be

me?

Dee-we all are searching for the person we used to be; it seems to be a symptom of time's passage. The Desilu you used to be is still in there, the key is in extracting her; good luck!

I wrote this after a friend told me she was grieving
for the girl she used to be.
For my part,I'm happy with the me I am now.(that sounds a bit smug.)
I am just content with my lot.
Thanks for commenting Mike.
Where would I be without your support?:)

What makes you think she's gone away, she's just resting. Keep a vigil through the night and march for what is right and she'll be back...haha

It sometimes feels like your old self is gone, sometimes parts of it may be gone, most often times they have evolved into a newer self. We all change as we get older, and finding your old self is like keeping the flame of a relationship burning after fifty years; you start with your passions: what excites you, what did you love in your younger years, and you work forward from there. That's how you find your old self, but that doesn't mean you'll embrace your old self like you did all those years ago. Sometimes moving on is a necessity, but the old parts of yourself worth embracing again, worth holding onto will never go away. I don't think I'll ever stop watching cartoons! lol It's a part of my old self that keeps me connected with the days when I was inspired by everything. It helps me find my inspiration today. I'm sure you're still connected with many parts of your old self, it just doesn't feel the same, because you have grownup problems now that cloud the innocent enjoyment of those former times. Keep following your passions!
