The voices STILL beyond the graves of slavery

RELEASE ME:

You came , you saw me,

Straight from the masters’ hands who carved me

Upright statute, broad shoulders,

Stacked with abilities, the world wonders

RELEASE ME

You studied me,

You tried to modify me

In frustration, you got cold

Not realizing the master had broken the mold

RELEASE ME

You tried to fix me

Manipulate, calculate,

with measures so desperate

My abilities you tried to regulate

RELEASE ME

My skin of charcoal, you tried to find the mould

A descendant of kings of old, from what I have been told

From the seven tribes

A lineage that knows how to survive

RELEASE ME

My eyes may not be blue

But this I know is true

Diamonds are made from black coal under years of pressure

To which I know you have no equivalent measure.

RELEASE ME

My powers you still do not want to know

Over four hundred years you did not want me to grow

In incubation and Isolation

You have been trying to invalidate my nation

RELEASE ME

When my physical stamina was too hard to understand

You treated me like I was not human

You shackled my feet, bounded my hands

Stood in the hot sun waiting for the ship to come.

RELEASE ME

When my , resistance became an issue

You tried to study my tissue

Nothing you could find,

so you have an axe to grind

RELEASE ME

You needed to find a way to control

you went after my soul

with another thought deep inside

you created cultural genocide

RELEASE ME

To eradicate your guilt, and stinky filth

You looked into my house

Picked out a few, give them positions

Make them feel like acquisitions

RELEASE ME

The more you try to deny me, The more you elevate me

The more you pressure me, the better diamond I become

One thing I know, and that is how to levitate

I was not made by man, I was hewn from the masters’ hand

To know me, is to know the depth of my soul

RELEASE ME
