As I sat at the window table

Where Mom would serve me sap-sweet pancakes

I would seek those birds at breakfast

Hypnotised by their banter

Songs of morning

Delightfully living, uninhibited

Family reunion, with all invited

A brief glimpse of infinity

Still guiding me to this day

Sweet stacks and song, the morning long

How I miss those birds at breakfast

Before yet a worry

Too early yet

For ignorance, or better still, wisdom to take my hand

To drift away in chirps and syrup

No heartbeat, no ego, no desire

For those would ruin everything

Oh, those memories of home

And all those birds at breakfast
