The energy of the river pulls

A dark corridor under canopy

Limbs of Water Oaks, like the cape of Count Dracula

Enshrouding me as I am carried onward

Life is still

Too quiet

A lioness hunting her prey

But for her young to survive

Into this cave, this tunnel

Paralyzed

Frozen with expectancy

What is waiting for me

Nothing comes

Nothing, but the spinal tension

Floating in this dark water

At a lurking pace

Like blood down the throat of the mother

To satisfy the hunger
