This is my entry to Lady Black’s challenge to write a love story where the hero dies. The Challenge was called ‘Written in the Stars Short Story Comp’. The story is nearly 7000 words long, so a long short story. Also the hero had to die, you will have to wait and see if I failed or passed this tough challenge. I like happy endings, so for the hero to die is a big ask for me to write in. Finally LB had a phrase to include. It was in the first person which is hard to include in a story written from a third person POV. The first part of the phrase I managed, but the final sentence I changed into the third person. So knowing what a hard task master LB is, I guess I failed that task. I have highlighted in bold her phase. Still the challenge had me hooked, but the art overtook the rules to the challenge a little. For those who can read such a wordy piece, enjoy.
And thank you LB for providing the driver to write such a complex piece.
