Anyone else ticked off by this?

Porn on my iPhone

Does anyone else have this problem?

I open my safari browser which is always set on my page on Booksie, or I get an email notification of a new write by one of my friends. I touch the screen to take me to say comments or someone’s work and the browser is hijacked by one of Booksie’s ads. Most annoying when the browser diverts from where I want to go to a competition to win an iPhone, which I already have. More than annoying when it is some premium rate porn site. ‘housewife sluts’ or something equally degrading locked into my browser. Today Booksie was taking an eternity to load so I gave up and put my phone in my pocket. Later I took it back out only to find an ample young lady offering her breasts to me, and anyone else in eyeshot of my phone. What if my children had been with me!!

I am seriously not happy that Booksie allow x rated advertising on the site when it can be viewed by minors and others who come to Booksie as an escape from having sex rammed down their throats 24/7. I am furious that they allow the coding of these adverts to force their way onto my phone overriding my legitimate browsing without giving me the option of whether I wish to view their graphic ads.

If anyone else has this problem or similar please let me know I will be trying to take it up with the hosts of Booksie and attempt to get this invasion to decency stopped?

I don't seem to have that problem (plenty of others though!); I don't have an I-Phone!

I also do not have an I-phone or that problem. I wonder if it is similar to the blocking feature, that it is easier to hit an add on an I-phone. I cannot stand to be re-dierected or hi-jacked, it really annoys me!

I also hate ads that won't close making me abort my browser completely.

Good luck with your campaign!

That shouldn't be happening. Is it an ad for a porn site? Are you sure it's coming from Booksie? What country are you from? That helps me track down the ad network. Once I find the network that is serving that ad, I will block them from the site.

Dear BG
Firstly thank you for addressing this issue so quickly, it is reassuring that you take this situation seriously too. I will try and give you a little more info that might help.

Firstly yes the problem is solely when browsing Booksie.

They are diverts to websites

I am in the UK

It happened again last night and I could not cancel the redirect without switching my phone off and back on then cancelling the browser page before it had a chance to reload. The site last night was called Local Sluts. There have been others, but all fairly similar. They appear to be x rated dating sites. (I guess selling premium rate services). I also get a ‘you have won and iphone’ add that forces you to tap ‘yes’ to take you to their site and then again will not allow you to close the site. So again I have to force a shutdown to stop it. All these ads have appeared on your website as ad banners or flash type boxes (that’s what I think they are)
It may be relevant that most of the time I am on G3 with a poor DL speed, though last night and the other day at work I was on a fast WiFi connection.

Also, whilst I have your ear; my main Booksie use it via my iphone tethered connection. The DL can be very low so there are times when, because the banners take priority over loading on the site and are fairly ‘bit heavy’ ( your legitimate banners, create etc, and some of the movie type flash ads) I simply cannot load the page. I have often had to give up, which is frustrating. I am guessing I am not the only person who uses tethering regularly. I understand these ads are required for your revenue stream, but perhaps you could do something that allows access to your site by all.

One more thing, something that has been voiced a thousand times by Booksie members and is relevant to this thread also. The restriction of ‘comment’ and ‘reply’ only stops proper dialog between members. Often a reply to a comment will prompt a further reply. Which of course is impossible, as is your replying to this via your comment system. I would be a massive bonus if dialog between reader and author could be continued until it runs its natural course.

Thank you again for your response and if you want to reply further please email me on dibsbooksie@gmail.com

I've turned off some international ad networks to try and isolate the culprit. Let me know if you still see the offending ads. You shouldn't.

In terms of comments, you know that you can leave as many follow up comments as you want in the article. You can post a comment on your own article. We're rolling out a bunch of changes to Booksie in the next two weeks and then we'll take a look at the commenting system. Thanks for your feedback!

Alas no change. Followed the link in my gmail of your comment posted on my porn on my iPhone. My piece opened then just as I thought it had fully loaded I got a mobile rewards ad hijacking the browser. I closed it and followed the link once more. Again the browser is hijacked this time my 'local sluts'

I have seen both these ads on your site when browsing on my laptop. The difference is that on the laptop they stay within there banner on the phone the close your booksie page and replace it with there's

Frustrating for all. Hope this info helps. Perhaps it has something to do with using apples safari. On the laptop I am on IE9

Re the comment thread. Yes I am aware that I can start a fresh comment but it would be more use friendly to follow the original thread. Always happy to give feed back and offer ideas.

Thanks

LOL, all fixed now! I'll let you know if it come back, would hate you to miss out on 'local housewife sluts', I wouldn't know what to do with one anyway. I mean I do my own washing up.
