The Tortoise and the Angel
The tortoise and the angel sat down to lunch
On lettuce and philosophy the did crunch
Said the Angel whilst sharing in a leafy munch
What do you think of the human bunch?
Slowly and thoughtfully the tortoise did scrunch
They’re in too muchof a hurry that is my hunch
And offered a glass of sloe and cabbage punch
The conversation went on through their brunch
Tortoise whilst selecting a leaf by sense of smell
Asked, why do they zoom about in a metal shell?
Angel a smirk did quell, quickest route to tolling bell
Tortoise, perplexed, scratching at his old grey cell
Their race from birth to death, his mind did dwell
What the angel had supposed did not bode well
How do you know they speed to heaven or hell?
Because my old friend, I am the angel that fell
The Angel of death picked up a stick of rocket
See this chap coming, he’s broken his sprocket
Chewing on a leaf he reached into his pocket
Took out the list of souls to collect docket
His brakes are bust, it’ll be impossible to stop it
He’s heading this way; I think you should hop it
The poor fella inside looked sure to cop it
What the angel got was a Tortoise shell locket
The moral of this story
Taking it slow and healthy eating is no guarantee of a long life
And if you’re going to speed about, make sure it’s in a metal shell
