Winter always brings a feeling that no other season can replicate. I can't quite explain it, this is the best I can do at the moment.

These winter nights call out for warming fires to melt our frozen souls
In which our hearts, entombed in ice, may burn beneath our bones.

This feeble frame cracks and pops aloud as the flames keep growing higher
and in my chest I feel the heat that kindles my desires.

The chilling air has no retort against foggy breath passing o'er my tongue
Released into the void of night as I sigh with my head hung.

Stretch out your hands to catch the fleeing sparks that wander through
the dark black sea of winter breeze that suddenly surrounds you.

Move in closer, squeeze in tight, the fire turns to flames
which in turn have weakened to embers, still glowing all the same.

The blaze has softened gently, in time the cold will overcome
and in my chest I feel my heart still beating steady as a drum

It too will turn to embers glowing brighter with each passing wind
until there's nothing left to burn and ice over again.
