I was going into a war I didn't plan for. Strapped down my rifle to my side not knowing if my heart's gonna come back dead or alive. I remember hearing the taunting birds screams. The forest will soon be a grave to the armed and brave. Fear strikes the eyes of the struggling man as he moves into the unknown. I wonder why were called soldiers? My thoughts scrabble at once. Before I know it the bullet from the thin steel barrel cracks. The noise spread for what seem like miles. Everything was moving so quickly but yet felt slow. I was frozen in shock. I watched my friend collapse, taken off the ground and his body smacking the concrete dirt. Rushing over to help him up. That's when I noticed the bullet collided into his head. I realized there and then this is slaughter job and the devil is the boss. I lifted my rifle and began to kill everything I thought was right. I did what I was told. Ending tons of families with only the second of a bullet and the pull of the trigger. What I did was wrong and I know it. Almost losing you was a great way of you showing me it. I learned from this war it's better to think about the battle. I was a upon a war so big it nearly destroyed my heart. I shoved my gun to my heart full of love and played a trust game. I wanted to win but I went insane in three days. I made it back safe but the thoughts will always remain.
