This is an homage to Edgar Allen Poe even though i think it is very different the his tell tale heart. Enjoy. You should read it slowly.

It was a sunny Monday afternoon when I decided to visit my fiancé during my lunch break. I was still excited to see her despite the fact that I saw her everyday. Nothing was out of the ordinary on the drive home, everything felt normal.

Parked outside of my house was a blue muscle car, a mustang I think.I have never seen this car before. I parked in my driveway and began the walk to the front door. After pulling out my key I unlocked the door and entered. I smelled the sweet smell of the candles in our room. Was she was expecting me?

Slowly I went to my bedroom, there was loud music playing from it. Today was a good day so far. Everything was up to date at work and all of our bills were finally paid.

I reached for the doorknob and turned it. I started smiling as I pulled the door open. My smile quickly diminished as I gazed forth and saw my wife to be being fucked by another man. Neither of them saw me at first, they just continued to hump and hump and hump.

Why would she do that? WHY?

Just before they noticed me I took a good look at the man and slammed the door. I left the house as fast as I could and got into my car. I also got a good look at his car before I sped off.

I didn’t know where I was going only that I had to get away, and fast. I could feel the rage growing inside of me, taking over every inch of my being. Everything around me became a blur as I picked up speed.

Something told me to stop and go back so I slammed on my breaks and skidded to a stop. After turning around I drove back home. I parked down the block from my house and just stared at my girlfriend’s backdoor man’s car until nightfall. I didn’t know what I was doing or why, I just did it.

The man left my house and started his car. A couple seconds later I started mine and followed him. We drove a long distance before he finally pulled up in front of a small house in a nice neighborhood.

I grabbed the baseball bat from the backseat floor and made my way to his car at a fast pace. The man got out of his car and looked at me.

“What are you going to beat me up because I’m fucking your little bitch?” The man said with a laugh.

I answered him with a swing from my bat, hitting him upside the head. As he lay there my rage subsided and I started to realize what I did, he wasn’t moving.

I reached down to check if he was breathing, he wasn’t. Oh shit, what did I do? Fuck. What do I do? I took a deep breath, but it didn’t calm me down. What do I do? I can’t just leave him here, can i?

I started walking to my car and looking around to see if anyone was around, no one. I got in my car and drove closer to his body. I started sweating. After I popped my trunk open I tried to pick him up. He was heavy but I got him in pretty easily. Shit, what do I do with the body?

I didn’t realize that he was bleeding until I saw that my jacket was covered in it. What do I do, what do I do? What did I do? I quickly got in my car and drove off.

I could bury him in the woods. I started driving to the gas station which was right down the road. I was sweating a lot. I was scared, no terrified. I took off my jacket as I pulled up to a gas pump. I made my way to the entrance looking at my hands which were also covered in blood. Fuck!

Once I was inside I went straight to the bathroom to wash my hands. I looked in the mirror, I didn’t look good. My skin was pale and I had dark bags under eyes. My hair was a mess and I was covered in sweat.

I walked up to the cash register.

“I need twenty on pump three,” I said and threw a twenty dollar bill on the counter.

“Are you okay?” The clerk asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

I got out of there quickly and went to my car to pump the gas. After removing the gas cap I put the nozzle in and waited for it to finish. Once it was done I put the nozzle back and got into my car.

I was having trouble breathing as my car turned on. I pushed the gas pedal and drove across the street to a hardware store, I needed a shovel. I bought the shovel and got out of there as fast as I could.

Once on the road again I listened to the radio to try and clear my head. “Bad Company” was on; it’s such a good song. The music didn’t help at all; all I could think about was what would happen if I got caught. Not only did I kill someone, I am trying to get rid of his body. Fuck my life!

I drove down a long road which went through the woods; all I had to do was find a good spot to bury him.

Tap. Tap. Tap

What was that? I turned down the radio and listened.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Is that coming from inside the car?

Tap. Tap. Tap.

What the fuck is that? W-t-f?

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I turned on the lights in the car and looked at the back seat, there was nothing there.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I looked out through my rearview mirrors, there was nothing there.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

What the fuck is that? I looked frantically around my car.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

It sounded like it was coming from the back. I still didn’t see anything.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I drove faster in my anxiousness. The tapping became more intense.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

He was dead, he can’t still be alive. Can he?

Tap! Tap! Tap!

It’s all in my head just like in “The Tell Tale Heart.”

Tap! Tap! Tap!

When I looked forward there was a pair of head lights glaring at me while a horn roared. I swerved to the right to avoid the car.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Oh fuck! There was a car stopped on the side. Our front ends met and my car was sent into a spin.

TAP! TAP! TAP!

I was thrown about inside the car as it flipped.

TAP! TAP! TAP!

As I lay dying inside the car, which came to rest upside down, the hanging gas cap went.

Tap. Tap. Tap.
