heat creeps slowly
enveloping like god
it pools in the valley
like jazz in
seedy city bars
it is like the
rapture
this devil heat
it shows us we are
made of water
we boil
we leak
we try try try
to die more carefully
so we might
get the chance to live
before we succumb
to vapor
