I know the quiet

Of long roads at dusk

I know the calming

Rythmic whirr

Of the engine

Of a car

I know the warmth

Of defrosters

In winter

I know the thoughts

You can't keep out

When the journey

Makes you weary

I know the way

They creep in slowly

With each white line

That passes by

I know the bright

Shine of high beam headlights

That Illuminate even

The smallest of flaws

I know the fear

That you have to

Look forward

I know the pain

That you have to

Look back

I know the quiet

Of long roads at dusk

I know it

Very well
