In the melan-
choly deep
there lies a beast
who's fast asleep

Who's fearsome talons
long to tear
soft flesh from bone
beyond repair

thick scales protect
its resting eyes
it hibernates
it stirs it writhes

it lusts for blood-
filled swollen cheeks
and in its dreams
it eats and eats

a lonely child
sits in class
his peers will mock
and jeer and laugh

though they should pay
quite close attention
to the children
wraught with tension

the ones who's eyes
well up with tears
the ones who hurt
for years and years

for though they look
quiet and kind
the beast exists
inside their minds
