Consider the snow on a mountain peak,
where ice and sun reluctantly meet.
As the rate of drops begin to grow,
a natural stream begins to flow.

Slowly at first, it winds its way,
growing stronger each summer’s day.
Gaining power and getting bigger,
it soon becomes a raging river.

Past cedars tall and canyon walls,
and transformed into waterfalls.
After the fury come waters deep,
strong and still, the river sleeps.

In earshot now of seagulls’ calling,
where land is green and gently sprawling.
As the ocean looms and the beacon shines,
the river is lost in a sea of brine.

Love is a river that has a source,
always destined to follow a course.
Brave the swim or sail a ship,
what matters most is you take the trip.

I fell in love in an alpine pass,
with a beautiful woman who loved me back.
I follow this river ‘til I reach the end,
with my love, my strength, my dearest friend.
