This was written for a friend of mine who once said "you don't know the real me" i was determined to prove her wrong. i have removed her name from the poem. All i have to say to that person is "wallah girl, i know you so well!"

Store bought mask

By Dit Dot

Before me lay two smoky eyes of dark beauty
I see the pain hidden within
I watch and know she wonders
Will she ever be free of it again?

If eyes are windows to the soul
Then it’s evident that hers is shattered
Into a million tiny little shards
With all the pieces scattered

But this secret you will never know
For this girl never makes a sound
She hides behind her public mask
Hoping her true self is never found

She smiles through a thousand tears
And harbors adolescent fears
She dreams of all she thinks she can never be
She wades in insecurity
And hides herself away inside quietly

Disenchanted she wanders aimlessly
Inside a world all of her own
But one day my snow white queen
I promise you'll sit proud upon a throne

You'll have that happily ever after
And my goodness will it be fantastic
Because then my dear friend ...........

No more mask of plastic
