Written at first just for a contest until I began to take it to heart and personalize it more and more. So it ended up being a show of my love to my anonymous lover.

I followed and listened to my neighborhood herd

where love or affection was the immaculate word.

But when my love couldn't be mine,

I took a number and stood in line.

Now we're together, abounding with joy,

never forgetting my pitiful ploy.

Umms and buts, the first time I've blushed,

and with that my hope was crushed.

I asked her to a movie, an oscar to be,

receiving only two words, a flat out "We'll see."

Years later, popping the question, she gave a "yes",

in all of my childhood, love was the best.
