taken from my book, "Suspended In Suspense"

No Longer Free

And I plummet downwards

God, Oh God, oh no, oh no

__I plummet downwards

If I sit, here, and chief

Comes the tears of my relief

And Uncle Sam calls on me for some duty

With my time on my hands

And my drenched heart on this soaken land

The whole point of my garnishes

__seem misleading

After thee hour strikes on past

I can see all my desires

__melt the dime sack

I am greedy

But I'm only in love

In love with my one and only drug

Don't think twice before I change my mind

And end up here, where ever I can find

__just another solitary confinement

To fit me in a box

__and lock me up

Is all that the government can think of

Maybe I was meant to wash the dishes

Or maybe I don't know who else

Can keep me hostage

Other than an institution of correction

Like I was some kind of math problem

__that was solved wrong

It's not my fault

It's never my fault

It's just seen that way

That's all

Passed on like a pebble

__I have become

The grave suits me just fine

Ask me how I know why

And maybe I'll sprinkle you out of my mind

Never knowing how I can be

A disease ridden man

Trapped to my calling

Hired by Uncle Sam
