Life can be unfair sometimes, but what happened to me was irreparable. I had lost everything that I needed to be alive, the support of my parents, my friends. Everything was gone, along with the disaster that destroyed my most beloved things. I was to fend for myself in this cruel world. I knew that if I wanted to survive, I had to find something or someone that would help me get through these times of trouble.
I searched my backpack for something that would help me begin my lone journey. My fingers searched deep down the bag for several minutes only finding papers, with meaningless words and phrases. I kept at this task, sure there was something waiting to be discovered. Finally I had come upon a cold object.
My fingers felt around this rectangular object, probably made of metal. It was almost weightless when I picked it up from my bag. Right then I remembered what it was, my MP3 player. I turned it on, and the first thing that popped up, was the picture of the guy I loved the most. He too was gone.

THE STORY BELOW IS EDITED.... AND FINISHED. ^____^

Life can be unfair, but what happened to me was irreparable. I had lost everything that I needed to be alive: the support of my parents, my home, and my friends. Everything was gone, taken by the disaster. I was to fend for myself in this cruel world. I knew that if I wanted to survive, I had to find something or someone that would help me get through this time of trouble.
I searched my backpack for something that would help me begin my lone journey. My fingers searched deep down the bag for several minutes only finding papers, with meaningless words and phrases. I kept at this task, sure there was something waiting to be discovered. Finally, I came upon a cold object.
My fingers felt around this rectangular object, probably made of metal. It was almost weightless when I picked it up from my bag. Right then I remembered what it was, my MP3 player. I turned it on, and the first thing that popped up was the picture of the guy I loved the most. He too was missing, and I needed to see him once more to know that he was safe.
I wanted to go on, even if I didn’t have the things that I wanted, that I needed. He was the foundation of my strength and he was going to be the reason for my journey.
The worst storm in the history of the planet Atlantis, had hit our hometown, killing so many people, including my family. I had no knowledge of my friend’s safe being, for I woke up in a hospital. It was outside the city were the storm had hit my house. I was ready to leave the hospital, and go to a place I no longer knew.
Why was my God, giving me such an unmanageable test? Crying was not an option, what good could it do? Instead I headed towards my home, with my MP3 player in hand, in which all my memories were stored. This was like my drug, it helped me cope with what I was going through, and soon enough I caught myself singing along with my favorite songs.
Every once in a while, I would look at the pictures remaining in my device. My family, my friends, and my beloved guy were present only in pictures but they were so intangible. I had no way of reaching them, and only through music could I show my feelings. All the music notes in every song would represent all my tears, all the sorrow that I did not want to show.
I walked and walked endless hours, through a winding road. Finally, I reached my destination after two days of searching. I had come to the place where my house once stood, where so many of my memories were built. This was were music had changed my life. I had begun my career as a singer here, practicing in my home everyday. Then I moved on to singing at my neighbor’s parties.
It had been my MP3 player that saved me from my problems before. Music meant so much to me, it had become an essential part of my life, just like my beloved boy, and why shouldn’t it save me now?
I began to work on my new house, on new memories, and on a new life. I decided that I would not let anything stop me from touching the intangible. To do this, I would focus on my music, on my love. I knew that if I prevailed once, I could do it again, but this time a little more effort was going to be needed.
I began my new mission, to find him, and to begin my career once again. It took me months to rebuild everything, but my strength was there. His pictures and my music were all safely stored in my MP3 player.
Months passed by without a sight of him, but I was finding success in music. I would write everything I felt, how I missed my family, my friends, my home.
----------------------------------------------Months later-----------------------------------------------
My storm had been over, I was able to get out of the horrible depression that destroyed my life, but lessons were learned. I learned that I could always rely on my music, on my MP3 player, even when I was going through hard times. New memories were built with my friends, my family and him. This storm was my depression and Atlantis was me, and overcoming it was hard.
I had let my depression get the best of me, but I had a choice. I could have let depression kill me, just like it killed my family, my friends, but what good could it do me? Absolutely nothing. That is why wherever I go, my MP3 player is what I carry. Music and the people I love are my strength.
