Once upon a midnight hour
Where lightning flashed and thunder growled
Where Beasts of night were sure to wander
Amid ancient chants as wizards conjured

Dragons soared on leathered wings
Brave knights who rode to war in tin
To win the hand of a dusky maiden
On ebony steeds, with weapons, laden

Off to war with battle cries
A thousand voices fill the sky
While hooves crush the ground to dust
And armour slowly turns to rust

Flags that flutter in savage winds
A haunting cry as the war begins
Thunderous sounds as hooves bear down
A thousand soldiers, all riding proud

Arrows fly, torrential rain
A savage grunt as a soldier is slain
A macabre dance of Death is this
For when all are dead, who really wins?

Clashing steel and iron eyes
Rivers of blood as brave men die
A battlefield of lost and damned
No longer to take that maidens hand

As silence falls and all is still
A passing eye over all that spilled
The cost of battle, a price is high
What good is a hero, when the hero dies....
