Good evening everyone... I pray that you are all having a wonderful evening, and a great week thus far. I just wanted to share a quick word with you, well, maybe not that quick. He he. After
slipping away from God for a while, I re-established my relationship with him, and I have to say, I am experiencing a freedom like I never have before. It's something I thought I would never
experience... but It was time for me to take God more seriously, and now that I have, it's incredible. It's just amazing how he works in our lives! Any way, I've been studying the book of
Habakkuk, I've been studying my bible a lot lately, but my latest focus has been the book of Habakkuk. I've been sharing it with EVERYONE that I can... Ha ha!
It's a perfect example of how God works in our lives. Habakkuk prayed to God. He questioned God about the violence in the world around him, along with other things. It got to the point he thought God wasn't listening. He even asked God, in Habakkuk 1:2 \"O Lord, how long shall I cry for help and You will not hear? Or cry out to You of violence and You will not save?\" I think we have all been in this situation... especially in these uncertain times. I'm sure at some point or another, we've all asked, \"Hey God, are you there?\"
What the Lord responded to Habakkuk just blew me away! He said in verse 5, \"Look around [you, Habakkuk, replied the Lord] among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days [such] that you would not believe it if it were told you.\"
Wow! Such a work that you would not believe it if I told you. We spend so much time praying, and asking and begging God to move in our lives. We become so preoccupied with him answering immediately. The thing is, if we would just stop worrying for a second, just long enough to look around and realize that God is already fulfilling his promises for us. I suppose sometimes we get impatient because we feel he does not answer us in OUR timing. It always has to be done NOW! But of course, God's timing is always perfect. He comes right on time. We need to pray for discernment so that we are able to see when it is that he is answering our prayers, because he is always moving, sometimes we just don't notice it.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 declares how important it is for us to have a vision for our life. God has a special purpose for all of us, as it says in Phillipians 3:12 we should have our eye one the prize, which is what the Lord has called us to do. His will should be our goal. Our vision. Many people do not discover their visions because they are so busy trying to create their own vision, and their own will, rather than following God's plan for their life!
We as human's tend to focus on our inabilities. We focus on the things that we can't do, rather than focusing on the things that we CAN do. When and if we become so wrapped up in our flaws, that's when we lose focus on the awesome God we serve. Hebrews 12:2 tells us to focus on Jesus, and look away from all things that distract us. We are not perfect. We all have flaws, and imperfections, but we should not choose to dwell on them. Instead, we should set our sights on Jesus, and focus also on the things we can do and put them to work as best as we can, putting every effort into it so that we can excel.
A good way to keep note of the visions God gives us is to write them down. as it says in Habakkuk 2:2. It's always good to keep a journal of some sort with our prayers to God, and we should also make a note of when he has answered them.
Through all this, we need to have patience. Habakkuk 2:3 speaks of an \"appointed\" time for our visions to come to pass. God knows when the time is right. We need to trust him and know that he is never late. Even it it seems like it's taking forever... be still, wait, and trust in him, and know that it will come to pass. Hebrews 10:35-37 reminds us of how important is is to be patient, in order to complete the will of God. Although God is never late, he does not always work in OUR timing. He will however, not fail to make his will complete in our life. Habakkuk waited patiently for his prayers to be answered. He waited patiently for his vision happen. He trusted God, and knew that he would not let him down, and sure enough, as always, God came through...
Incredible... What an awesome God we serve. What else can I say? I know this is a little long, but it has ministered to me in such a great way, I have to share it. =D
Love Ya! Daisy M.
