Lonely motel rooms, laying alone in the smoky gloom,

pain is my best friend,

staring at the tv set, not quite drunk just yet,

wondering if the sadness will ever end.

I can handle the mornings alright, but then the afternoon leads into night,

when you would have been by my side,

there's a sad song playing on the radio, it reminds me of the day I let you go,

it's the day I died inside.

{Chorus}

I'm tired of all of the lonely places, the cold and empty spaces,

and looking into a stranger's eyes, living in a bottle, running from my own lies,

wishing you would call to tell me you miss me tonight.

I abandon my motel room, for the safety of a bar, too lonely to be alone, too drunk to walk too far,

just to find the same-old same-old restless scene, wondering where you are tonight, as i sit and daydream,

watching a sad movie, just to pass the time of day, it's a movie about two lovers, who threw it all away, but I am in no movie, it's down to earth reality.

Most of all, I wish you'd call, to tell me you miss me tonight........tell me you love me tonight....
