Crucified, under a mystery moon,

the strawman, the guardian,

fields of corn swaying in the summer breeze,

echo the cry of a loon.

A prisoner of fate, he hangs lifeless,

cursed by mother nature, lost by father time,

a cricket's chirp his symphony, a frog's croak a lonely rhyme.

The distant sound of passing trains,

the rumbling of thunder,

jack o'lantern eyes search the darkness,

for a heart torn asunder.

A midnight rain lulls him to sleep,

a blessed slumber so deep,

now his dreams are his to keep.

A mystery, the strawman.
