Our eyes met from across the room, it was just a fleeting glance.

But when I saw you smile at me, I thought I had a chance.

My mind raced, making plans, although in some haste,

I knew I had to move quickly, there was no time to waste.

I would get up, and saunter by, we would exchange hellos,

And as for the rest of it, here is how it goes.

I tell a joke and you would laugh, quiet and so charming,

I’d be caught up in your world, you’d so disarming.

It sounds crazy, this strange plan, but we’d agree to meet.

We’d find it hard to say goodbye, just standing on the street.

Your eyes flash, I slip a smile, we’re both so captivated.

When our hands touch, to say goodbye, we both are so elated.

We can not wait, tonight’s too long, we can’t take the suspense.

We find a way to go somewhere on a flimsy pretense.

Then I suggest that it is time that we drop our charade.

This strong desire that we both feel, we just can not evade.

I know it’s all going so fast, it really seems extreme,

But rushing to a hotel room, seems just like a dream.

It takes too long for the door to close, before we find each other,

Yielding completely to our passion, me and my new lover.

Suddenly I blink, then I look up only to find you are gone.

“Oh no,” I cry, “What have I done? Did I wait too long?”

As I get up and start to leave, I smile at my romance.

And take with me the memory of my lover for a glance.
