Is it fear that keeps me here, or a sense of obligation.

Do I eschew a life that’s new, and stand here in starvation?

In my mind I think I’ll find, with some concentration.

Some small voice with another choice, a different destination.

Still I ask behind my mask, is this just desperation?

Is it right to start that fight, to force a transformation?

Or is the way for me to stay, in slow disintegration?

For just how long can I be strong, maintain my situation?

So much to lose if I wrongly choose, such fuels my hesitation.

I’ll just remain, endure my pain, embrace my isolation.
