We are castles in the sand,
Living out what has been planned.
We start out life with beauteous towers,
Stalwart walls, strong with our powers.

We mold and shape our castle fast,
And we believe it'll always last.
Sometime the wind starts to blow,
Our walls begin to crumble slow

As small pieces fall away
We lose some each and every day.
Sometimes, we find a wave will crash
Our castle weakens with every splash.

Until one day we realize
Our self-reliance is built on lies.
Blow by blow, our castle shrinks,
And our firm foundation sinks.

God lets us play out in the sand.
It is the way that He has planned.
We all will learn we are not God.
He smiles and winks, gives us a nod.

Left with naught but sand and foam.
Learned our lesson, He takes us home.
