Entwined , drowsy , contented  in somnolent embrace  ,
My lover  eases gently  from our embrace.
She slips from my bed
And silently , she dons her hidden garb
Then ,with  the voice of another
Whispers a crow- cawed - farewell
Like a hand of  fresh-frostedenmity
Sharp and piercing .
I feel the sting , subtle and perilous.
The bed blood -warm from her lancet
The tenderness of  our union
Sundered  in an instant.
In the failing glow
I feel the blood ooze ; Betrayed again ;
By her devious thrust .
Winter has crept forth from its crypt ;
Colour fades ;  dark comes sooner
Each unwelcoming night.
Leaves curl in crisp scattered bundles of pitiless death.
Winter has cast her shawl over all the earth
Has  stolen all the colours from the land
