Days of drifting cobwebs across a blue sky
Extruded by the unloved arachnid
Carrying her eggs to a new lair.
She balloons and air glides the skies
For many miles on air currents’
She severs her life line to the high gable
And lets fate take her to where it will
Taking that last leap before the chill sets in
And the days turn to winter , and the spindle grow sharp and brittle
With the coming frosts .
Every life is adrift on a journey
Into the chasm of fate
But we fear that leap of fate
That we need to make across
Into the great unknowable
But its only a gentle breeze
That casts us from the precipice of life
And only the fickle glue of our closed minds
Keep us tethered to this mortal cliff
Dangling on high
Billowing in the autumn sky
At the mercy of the migrating birds
Feeding in a frenzy
Before they tank up for their long journey
Take flight in the waning sunlight
And let the wind of Fate
Take you where she will .
