Summary

some jumbled words to try and depict the soprano rehearsing tonight in our 14 Century Cathedral.
The concert starts Wed .
This in an event for the Galway stopover of the Volvo Boat race .
It is a torpid night .
the boats are lying by at the quays .
The start for another 3000 mile leg begins Sat.

Soprano singing in St Nicholas’s Cathedral 1st June

An amber swathe  glows across the grey stone
Fusing with the reflected hues of vivid violet
And vermilion seeping through the satin glass window
On this sultry  June night ; as the boats are swaying
Gently by the harbor wall ; rested ; contented .

The soaring sweep of the voice is carried to the rafters on joyous
Swoops of splendour
As if a thousand swallows filled the cathedral air
And danced in rapture right up to the ancient rafters
And all along the lepers gallery ; up to the apse and
Dancing  along the aisle and each  transept

She draws the summer nectar from the air and
Bestows it to an  audience on a glittering palette
Diamond encrusted  of  platinum and gold
Each note a jewel disguised momentarily as a petal

The orchestra await their signal on  the conductors baton
Rapt ;in the urgency of the trilling moment ;
A touch of string and bow, a vibriato on a violin
A fluttering lilt  on flute horn
And the rhapsody is consummated in the
Warm embrace of the harp strings ;
Rolling up and down the scales
