Cheaters never win

STUD
The four men set around the card table in the saloon in this little town, playing poker, and as they talked about everything from the weather to whatever was going on around this little town. In the game there was a player dressed a little different than the others, he had a diamond stick pin and ring on his right hand that said he was a gambler and the way he was dressed proofed it. Among the others there was a man named Gabe Henry a local man who lived there all his life. Maybe it would have been different if the cowboys had noticed the short barreled forty four hog leg hanging on his hip. As the game went on, it was all too plain to see the sharp dressed stranger was winning most of the time, so Gabe began to watch him a little more. It didn’t take long, the man lay down what they called the dead man’s hand ‘Ace’s and eight’s in his hand was an ace that Dawson held in his hand. The sharpie started to rake in his winnings. Dawson called him and said. This looks like that ace of spades you’re holding. The action was quick the guy said. You calling me a cheat? Dawson said No, but let me see the inside of your arm. Stud went for his gun, saying. I'll kill …. stud never got out the last word. Because Gabe and that short barreled forty four spoke death, and Stud died where he stood, before he could clear leather.
