A poem about losing someone you loved because they changed.

the dreams

I see your face in them

you are just as you were before

full of charm

grace

passion

poise

but yet you are plastic

unhuman

mechanic

behind your clever eyes

I see the click and whir

of thousands of tiny machines

coldy calculating

inorganic and discordant

your hair

is now straw

and your smile

is an unearthly sheen

the polish of metals and jewels

once

you were beautiful

but no more

once

you were mine

but no more

once

I loved you

but no more
