Hey guys. It’s Shane O’Sullivan and Ryan Moxon from DOSZE here. Today we will review Zombieland as our first Rancid Review. Rancid Reviews will be an in-depth review of a book, TV-show, song, comic or movie about Zombies.

Zombieland was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and produced by those two and Ryan Kavanaugh, Gavin Polone and Ezra Swerdlow. This massive hit was directed by Ruben Fleicher.

Columbia Pictures, Relativity Media & Pariah come together to create a masterpiece listed in the Zombie horror/comedy genre. This big budget film had its budget set at $23,600,000 (estimated), and received $24,733,155 in its first airing weekend, on the 4th October 2009 in the United States of America, and was shown on 3036 screens. The last Gross on the 13th December 2009 was $75,590,286 in the United States alone.

Its runtime is set at 88 minutes long, and has possibly one of the most entertaining and gripping storylines of any Zombie movie out there. The audience is taken on an exciting journey alongside Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock as they battle as a “family” in the Zombie Apocalypse, with their main goals being to visit Pacific Playland, and to get a twinkie.

One funny thing to note is that in the supermarket they visit around halfway through the film has a closed box of Twinkies in it. Many memes have surfaced about this, and has made people wonder how many other Twinkies they missed.

The cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard, Bill Murray & Derek Graf. Bill Murray actually plays himself, and they go searching for ghosts.

One of the film’s greatest assets is its rules. They are hilarious and would prove to be true if an Apocalypse did indeed hit. Shane’s favourite rule is Number 8, get a kickass partner, and Ryan’s is Number 3, beware of bathrooms.

Ryan rates this film 8.5/10.

Shane rates this film a 9.2/10.
