The Syrian people are living under dictatorship for the last six decades. First Hafeez Al Assad ruled over this nation for more than forty years, after whose death, the power was taken over by his son the present dictator Bashar Al Assad. Political opponents of the Assad dynasty were either eliminated, imprisoned or living in exile since decades. With the Arab Spring, the oppressed people are getting united and demanding ouster of the Assad regime so that a legitimate democratically elected government could be in place to govern the nation in which people could live in peace without fear for their lives or facing any kind of oppression.
With the lust for power, Assad had ordered his army to use all brutal measures to quell the peaceful protests. Later the peaceful protests had turned violent and various groups such as Free Syrian Army and other armed groups are engaged in fighting with the army supporting the Assad regime. These clashes have taken the lives of nearing twenty thousand people mostly unarmed civilians including children and women. Many people have fled the country and taken asylum in neighbouring Jordan and Turkey. The UN Security Council has failed to stop the genocide and civil war in Syria. This is because Russia and China who are traditional friends of the Assad family are using their veto powers to take any strong action against the latter. Russia and China are failing to realise that Syrians are for ever whereas Assads are not.
Now that Bashar Al Assad has been threatening to use chemical weapons against his opponents, the situation is turning more dangerous. Chemical weapons not only cause mass destruction of humans and other living creatures; but also remain in the environment for many years. The residue cause serious health hazards with human and other animal species, such as cancer and genetic disorders.
The world community should not sit idle and keep waiting to see such horror to happen right in front of their eyes. They must unite and take strong action against the Assad regime. The option at the moment is not imposing economic sanctions against Syria, but military action. Bashar Assad should be removed from power so that the genocide is stopped and further destruction is prevented. Further the world community should help Syria establishing a legitimate democratically elected government to rule over the nation under which people shall live without fear or oppression, and enjoy freedom.

WORLD COMMUNITY SHOULD NOT WAIT AND WATCH TO SEE THE SYRIAN DICTATOR FOR STARTING CHEMICAL WARFARE. THE DICTATOR SHOULD BE STOPPED AT ALL COSTS TO CAUSING FURTHER MAYHEM AND GENOCIDE.

The Syrian regime's threat for using chemical weapons against the rebel forces is a serious matter. Chemical weapons are weapons of mass destruction. They do not selectively kill the target but destroy all living creatures around. The toxic chemical released spreads in air, water and dust to other places and produce its harmful effects. Residues of these chemicals remain in the environment for many years and cause serious health hazards to human and animals. They include cancer, genetic disorders such as birth defects and other physical illnesses. The effect of 'Agent Orange' which was used by the Americans in Vietnam war has not yet been over. Whereas the world community has not yet become civilised enough to ban producing these dangerous chemical weapons, they should at least impose a ban on using these weapons in war or in any other manner. In the 21st century national borders are vague since people move around the world freely with specific purpose. The world belongs to the entire human race and nobody has the right or should be allowed to destroy its environment with toxic materials such as Sarin,Tabun and such chemicals.

Whereas the US President Barack Obama has given a token warning to the Syrian dictator Assad and his regime not to commit a 'tragic mistake', the entire world community should not sitting back quietly and keep watching the tragic event rather the horror to occur right in front of their eyes. Instead they must unite and speak strongly against the mad behaviour of Assad and his insane group perpetrating mass genocide of people in their own nation and now threatening to use chemical weapons.

Both Russia and China for their vested reasons, keep supporting a dangerous regime engaged in mayhem. However the role of NATO nations and other Asian powers such as India could not be lauded. All these nations are equally giving cool and guarded response due to the same reasons.

Now that former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's formula has failed and Bashar Assad is giving a damn to suggestions given by neighbouring Muslim nations who have asked Assad to step down, it has become desirable to stop him using force. One could imagine, if Qaddafi would not have been stopped by NATO forces helping the revolutionaries, he and his delinquent army might have killed all Libyans who had raised voice against the regime ! The situation in Syria is equally worse like that of Libya during the last days of Qaddafi. The world community should not allow Assad the dictator who still lives under the illusion that Syria is his family estate and Syrian people are his slaves; to continue committing crime against humanity and systematically destroy his homeland. He should be removed from power immediately.
