This poem is about a time of hardship during a period where I didn't think anyone cared about what I thought and I was torn in two.

This Pair of Shoes

You won't take my hand

as I try to get up and stand

In this pair of shoes.

The soles exist no more

and my feet are becoming sore.

They can't take the stress.

I feel impatience in this game of chess.

The pressure's building up,

shaking water in a cup.

In this pair of shoes.

The left one says to me "Shut your yap!

Shove some food in your gap."

The right one argues, "Don't listen to that!

Say something, speak up!" that's what it spat.

They argue every day,

but I just sit here and pray.

In this pair of shoes.

So will you take my hand?

As I try to get up and stand?

I will soon find a new pair of shoes.

I will find them as I get clues.

In this pair of shoes.
