Joie De Vivre

One day a man was returning to Mumbai by a flight after his amazing trip from Paris. Suddenly, there were drastic climatic changes as a consequence the flight was under danger. The man was terrified with the thought of death coming near. When he was so frightened by death, he observed a young girl, 12 years old, sitting patiently and enjoying her journey. This man was shocked and he asked her “How can you be so calm?” To which the little girl replied with a bright smile, “The man driving the plane is my Dad and he wants me to survive more than anyone else!”

Life is similar to this experience. It’s driven by god, our father.  He can never wish bad for his children. Unlike that little girl, we all don’t trust him and fail to hold faith in him. We try to take control of our life, which is not in our control anyways. Isn’t it stupid?

We are entangled in our past and we are so anxious about our future, both of which is out of our control. And what we completely forget is to live in the present moment! We forget to enjoy it fully!

Life is not what we want! Life is what it is!

The habit of having expectations has an inherent pain of disappointment, the very moment we build expectations, your mind contractually agrees to suffer when those expectations aren’t met. So can’t we avoid the unrealistic expectations to avoid such suffering? I don’t mean that have no expectations from yourself, don’t set goals for yourself, but we can avoid giving key of our happiness to a particular person or an event or an experience. We try to fix a situation or a person or a career, which we think is perfect for us and we postpone our happiness to that moment when we receive the same. But little do we know that it’s not in our hands all the time to control the external situations! And so our happiness is out of our reach, since we have attached it to that event. But here comes the secret, that happiness is not a place to reach, it is the way of living. So why can’t we enjoy every moment the way it comes, giving your best when it comes! Understanding the fact that the only person you can ever fix is yourself!

Why not live in the present moment, accepting it for the way it is, for the way god has planned it for us, in the best of our interest.

I don’t believe in the concept of missing out on anything. How can you miss out a moment which was not yours anyways! What is yours is right here, which you aren’t even grateful for and you shall regret it later. When we understand this completely, we free ourselves from the burden of past mistakes, future anxiety, we can completely disown our insecurities and start living in the present moment.

What we currently are missing out on is life itself, since we are entangled in the past or we are trying to fix the future, while life itself is passing by!

I hope that someday we realize just like that little girl, that real joyfulness and blissfulness lies in living in the present moment, without taking responsibility of what happens next, having faith in larger forces and giving your cent percent in your present moment. That’s when you set yourself free! To be truly yourself!
