sat in my garden

spring sunshine on my face

daffodils are swaying

gentle breeze dictates the pace .

.

i see the speckles of a song thrush

and listen as he calls

pretty soon his true love

sits on my garden wall .

.

in my hardy fuchsia bushes

they grow busy building nest

soon they'll have a family

no time for them to rest .

.

the hen is watching proudly

as he flies in with loaded beak

i listen intently

as i hear the couple speak .

.

another male approaches

my song thrush thrusts his chest out proud

its as if i hear him saying

two is company but three's a crowd.

.

away the stranger is flying

the lovers now return

the power and strength of true love

is the lesson that i learn .
