i lay the table and prepare the food

select the tunes i want to play

i light the candles to set the mood

for this very special day .

we exchange a tender greeting

when i see you at the door

i've dreamed so often of this meeting

yet my heart beats as never before .

we feed morsels to each other

what a romantic way to dine

and as we relax with one another

your eyes converse with mine .

to soft music on the stereo

i hold you as we dance

gentle kisses and a whispered ''hello''

this will be a wonderful romance .

there will be a time for passion

but tonight is not the night

though this may not be the latest fashion

we'll just hold each other tight .

we chatter as i drive you home

and kiss you goodnight outside your door

now i'm praying you will telephone

to say you'd like to meet once more .
