i look out of my window

on this crisp beautiful morn

a red breasted robin is singing

there is snow on my lawn .

.

over the boundary

a strange thing i see

a single set of footprints

but no one visits me .

.

i don my dressing gown

and outside i call

following the footprints

to my boundary wall .

.

where the footprints have ended

a snowman now stands

not another trace of humanity

anywhere on my land .

.

i shrug my shoulders

and his scarfe i adjust

his warm smile reassures me

it is ok to trust .

.

hugging my snowman

a lonely yorkshireman cries

the salted tears of loneliness

flow from my eyes .

.

i do have a true love

but she can't be here

your presence dear snowman

will help keep her near .

.

a pebble at my window

is my christmas morning alarm

my magical snowman

has my true love in his arms .

.

this is the most beautiful christmas

that i've ever known

and if you believe in the magic of snowmen

you will never be alone .
