The Haunted Appartment For Rent

By Andrew Mosher

It all started in the van. Seven month old Karren was in her car seat while 12 year old Benny was playing his PSP. They were moving to a new place because the old neighborhood had too much gang activity.

It was a cold day in early January. Finaly after 2 hours they arrived at 56 Bird Avenue in Vermont. As Derik the father and Sarah the mother got out of the car and Derik went to sign some papers with the recent family. "Hey honey! The kids and I are going to see the house." Sarah said.

And so they went to open the door. Then a little girl came out. "Hi. I'm Shelby. Are you here to rent the house?" The girl asked. "Yes we are." Ben said. "Then may I give you a tour of the house?" Shelby asked. "We'd love that." Sarah said. "Well then. Let's go." The girl said walking in.

"This is our laundry room. It has a working dryer and a working washer." She said pointing the stuff out. then the walked down the hall. "This is the bathroom. It has a decent tub and an automatic sink faucet." The girl told them.

Then Shelby brought them to another room. "This is my room. I think it will be great for your baby." Shelby said.

Then the mother saw a crack in the window. "Yea but look. that window has a hole in it. She could catch a cold and die." Sarah said. "Oh, but it has a heating system. It'll fit her good." Shelby said.

Then Derik called out. "Guys! The papers are signed now." Derik yelled. "Oh, we have to go now. But thanks for the tour." Sarah said as they walkedout of the house.

"Hey there. How's it going?" Benny asked. "Good. I see you got a look around the house." The recent owners said. "Yes we did. Your little daughter, Shelby showed us the place." Sarah told them. "That's impossible. She died last December from hypothermia." One of the owners said.
