A Bonnie Lass

Smitten I am wai’ a bonnie lass
She hast tak ma heart away.
Her smile is as bold as brass,
Her ebon locks, ay most beautiful, okay.
Comparable to a rose she is,
Her beauty unsurpassed.
Aye her laugh melodious,
It’s music to my ears.

So I must tell thee,
Until now, kept under lock and key.
Confess my love,
Of how she doth make me feel.
How such beauty canst exist,
That is not mortal in its existence.

Must she be, and so she is
A bonnie lass, in the eye of me.
