When your eyes roll back
and you separate body from soul
remember what ties have bound you here
and don't give up so easily
and when you feel sick, little one
just know i am the consumption
hollowing lungs and cleaning your cavities
searching for a place to nest
but it'll all be ok in the end
everyone needs somewhere to rest
and when breathing becomes a burden
shallow and weak just like myself
i will give you my lungs
and when your skin turns yellow
because your liver is just a stone
i will be the sponge to suck up your waste
i told you my child i have broad shoulders
i can hold a lot of weight
and you are merely a feather.
