my skin's shallow like a tidepool
stretched like canvas
against my structure made of wood
but i've got termites in my bones
and they won't leave me alone
and if i could show you hell
i'd simply smile and walk you calmly through
the devil hasn't payed his dues
he owes me one and this one makes two
but my fingernails are broken off
from scratching at the ground
my lungs are all but bleeding
see i've been screaming
but haven't made a sound
just wrap yourself around my head
and tell me that i'll be alright
we both know it's a lie
this is an addiction
i'll carry for life
