The morning after the first incident the group was in a motel in northern St. Louis where the past night’s journey through the streets had taken them. Jaylen and Jaden shared a room and everyone else had their own. Ethan woke everyone up and asked them what they think the group should do. Elijah threw out the idea to run to another state. Noah suggested they go home but they feared this would hurt their families. Then, something rare happened Gabriel said something to the group. She suggested investigating the clock tower for the reason the thing disappeared. They all agreed except for Ava. She did not want to risk getting herself killed and refused to go. Logan suggested that someone stay behind with her to ensure her safety. No one wanted to but Noah could not stand another death and said that he would stay.
Logan, Jaylen, Javen, Ethan, and Gabriel went to the tower to investigate, while Noah and Ava stayed in the motel. The investigating group knew they needed to be away by night in case of reappearance. They went to the church and asked the Priest, Christopher, if anything suspicious had happened the night before. Unfortunately he hadn’t seen anything. They then continued to ask if they could see the clock tower. Christopher told them they could as long as he came with them. The children agreed to his terms and went inside. They spent so much time searching the tower they did not realize until the bell rang that it was nightfall. They screeching sound of the bell was like a wicked scream of death to the group. They all shuttered as they ran out of the clock tower full speed. No one noticed that Christopher had disappeared. They sprinted out of the church not caring what they broke as they made a B-line for the motel. When they arrived they realized they were too late. They opened the slow creaking door only to see an empty room. Not a single soul was in the entire motel, including Noah and Ava.
The remaining five sat in one room cowering in the corner all sharing the same fears. They all sat wide awake hoping that someone would show up, but no one did. Ava and Noah were gone and possibly never going to be seen again.
