You reached out into the unknown
and took the hand I offered.
At first it was tentative,
but soon the grasp became firm.
We were both uncertain, nervous
and a little afraid
but a smile shared between the two
soon broke down the defences.

A seed had been placed and began to grow.
Laughter became the path to deeper conversation;
secrets shared forged a bond of friendship.
Tears cried for the other
at the pain once suffered,
pleasure at their joy.

Together we discover new paths
in the journey of life.
Helping each other unravel
the deeper reaches of our minds.

Who is this person
that brings so much warmth to my heart?

You, my dearest friend.
