Dedicated to my mom. This was her Christmas present; I put it in an empty box and wrapped it... you're about to find out why (if you didn't already guess from the title). *My real name is substituted on this site by my pen name. Oh, and Kara is my sister.

Dear Mom,

You go with little appreciation in your busy life, a “thank you” very rare.
Taking care of Kara and I might not always be so fair.
We eat and go to school and you have to make sure all goes well.
Sometimes we even wear you out—trust me; I can tell.
But you have no idea how much you matter to Kara and me.
We love you lots (I assume Kara would agree).
I don’t know what else to give you, because nothing else seems like enough,
for truly the greatest gift in the world is the gift of love.
I wanted to put it in a box—and believe that I really tried.
The problem was I had some trouble getting it inside…
If I could put love in a box, I’d wrap it up real nice.
Alas, I tried, but to no avail; I hope this will suffice.
Love,
Destiny*
