Do u mean to say that be happy and try to make others happy by your acts even if they are trying to be harsh? I don't know whether I interpret it right or not but I took the monsoon rain as the harsh one or cruel... Regards..
This Haiku could be interpreted in many ways and your viewpoint is also correct and suitable. Actually this the beauty of poetry form of expression it can construed with many meanings according to the logic and understanding of a reader.
However my viewpoint was a bit simple. I focus more on "elegance" and monsoon stood for best opportunity. So it can be summed up as when you have the best opportunity give your best happily and cheerfully so as to produce the best possible result.
