Reoccurring Memories

You and I are now poles apart

You are happy in your life

And I’m happy in mine

We are now independent and fine.

~

But your memories - sour and sweet

Became indispensable like heartbeat

Past couldn’t lead into a fulfilling future

Unless present is what you cherish and nurture

~

There was no point living in the past

No point getting stuck as world was moving fast

However sweet, memories bring emptiness

Our longing lead to perpetual unhappiness

~

So I had to let it go, to move ahead in life

To conquer peace, defeating the prime reason of my strife

It was really hard but somehow I overcame

To an extent of forgetting even your name

~

Then what’s still left that you keep haunting me

Refreshing all memories through dreams that I see

Is it a boon or some kind of a bane?

- An enigma that’s gonna definitely make me insane.
