She asked me the question through tear glazed eyes

Why her mother and I were dividing our lives

What could I tell her that would ease her young pain?

What could I say to make her happy again?

“Sometimes it happens” I forced a smile

“That mummys and daddys must part for a while”

“But you’ll come back right?” She pleaded and cried

And in her desperate moment a part of me died

What could I tell her that would ease her young pain?

What could I say to make her happy again?
