~~The Veil of Vanity
By Earl Chambers

‘Tis a dire threat to our fragile sanity,
To think of this life in terms of Vanity.
As Jerusalem’s King looked around him in woe
We likewise see all things continue as they inevitably go
As those we love say good-bye and forever go into the ground.
There is nothing quite so chilling as the sound
Of living things once merry being forever destroyed,
Thrust into that endless black of no return which we call the Void.
But behold!
‘Twill someday be the hour that was prophetically foretold
When the Son of Man returns for His own, omnipotent and triumphant,
With His crown shining like the sun as the Archangel sounds his trumpet!
“Twill be on that day that we will see all as it truly has been.
And then
As we go up to meet Him in the air,
And into His incomparable eyes we finally stare
We will understand what has always been true without fail:
That life on this earth is a temporary sea over which we all must sail,
To that celestial Jerusalem, and see that Solomon’s Vanity is naught but a Veil.
